El Poder de la Infancia Demonstrates Power, Skills, and Style Through EP ‘Campamento’

El Poder de la Infancia (also known as The Power of Childhood), a six-member ensemble based in Parana, Argentina, released a bold EP entitled “Campamento” under the label Tunitemusic. I honestly didn’t know what to expect upon checkout of this release, but dang! This band sure knows how to bring the house down with their bold combination of jazz and post-rock genres that strongly define their character and musicality. It says a lot about the band when they’re able to make a compelling EP with just two interconnected tracks, right? Well, this band did just that. With the help of the variety of skills brought by each of the members of the group, the band plays around with sound like it’s their playground, making music as their game, and each member is a master of their own kind.

The EP opens with Ascensor, and without a doubt, this track lives up to its name with the way the bass and electric guitar work perfectly with the ensemble of all instruments. Undeniably, the bass is a solid foundation for the track, and the skills to execute all the plays for this track are absolutely top-notch, as each twang, rhythm, accent, sharpness, and tone adds life and vibrance to the song. What I love about this track is the way it builds; you just know right from the start that it’s about to go crazy, but it is a steady rise, a groove that you will appreciate and enjoy. I honestly feel like this type of sound is rare these days; hence, I genuinely appreciate this type of genre.

Have I ever mentioned how great their bass line was for this EP? If yes, then I’d like to highlight that again for the last track, Purificacion. The instrumentation for this is just sharp and dynamic, and it carries a rhythm that clearly states that it is owned by this band alone and no one else. It is also worth noting how easily this song connects with Ascensor; the bridge is great, making the whole transition sound like it’s part of the same song. Every note and beat pulse with intensity, and listening to these pieces felt like being injected with potent doses of energy in the form of a sound, and by the end of everything, I feel like I have become transformed; the experience is just so satisfying.
