“Funky Love (This Is How We Do It!)” Is That Sunshine In Your Pocket

With every track earning its head-bob-worthy title, this whole EP is guaranteed to put you in a good mood all-in-all. It’s as if Amir Madani Rascado woke up on the right side of the bed, getting into the studio with a smile on his face to make this record possible.

The title track of “Funky Love (This is how we do it!)” immediately hits you with great vibes and a tune that will make your heart pump faster in the most positive way. It could easily be the next dance craze; it’s quick, fleeting, yet it’s bound to stay in your mind for hours on end. It has the potential to make you get up on your feet even if you haven’t (or refused) to dance your whole life.

Up next is “DANCE WITH ME”, providing us with complex executions with the instruments, which are fitting for the track itself: it’s far from simple, and it would not only catch the audience’s attention sound-wise, but would make the musicians wonder how to play this track. Including repetitions of “Everything is okay”, this song truly encompasses positivity on another level, encouraging everyone to come along for the ride, to be entangled with them through dance.

After hearing that “It’s too funky!” is featured in a chocolate commercial, we wouldn’t be surprised – who wouldn’t feature any of these songs on TV? The bass and guitar are once again in tandem with one another, with brass elements cheekily coming in in parts, adding zest to the mix. This once again radiates positivity with lyrics that hold that very element (“Keep on smiling”), no malice whatsoever, only happiness and big smiles.

“Feel the rhythm” gives off techie vibes, the newfound effect for some of the vocals works wonders – not too overused or overbearing, allowing listeners to enjoy that effect altogether. By now, the technique on the guitar is uniform, but it hits every time. “You fill my life with joy / You bring me light / It makes me wanna dance all day, all night”. The bass is smooth, and seamlessly glides with the vocals.

The club energy persists with “This is how we Disco!”, with the song being completely instrumental and made for the dancefloor, getting mixed and spun by DJs. However, “Good Morning!” sounds vintage and familiar, like straight out of a children’s show, or a daytime talk show, or simply another commercial that includes a feel-good rap-like segment.

To be blunt, this EP would definitely be a recommendation to anyone, as everyone deserves happiness every once in a while – this record is definitely filled with it. It’s a mixture of carefree positivity and actual skill, making this a relatively good EP.
