As avid listeners of music, we are always eager to hear tunes that will put us at ease but at the same time hype us up for what’s to come—whatever that may be. In comes “Luxury Manifesto”, a powerful yet genuine hip-hop EP that is sure to put a spring in your step.
You may know Chicago-based rapper Giffy Pluggo through his The Chi-inspired, concept album “Douda” released earlier this year. In essence, he makes his intentions known through his songs, and his impeccable quick-thinking through his clever lines and wordplay. The guy truly knows his stuff.
“Luxury Manifesto”’s title track features Scott Storch, and it immediately gives off the impression that every minute of recording and producing it costs a lot just by how rich and mellow it sounds. The rhyme game is strong, pulling new audiences into Giffy Pluggo’s style and charisma. The chorus is catchy in a sense that you’d be eager to hear it again once it comes around.
Up next is “Long Distance” featuring Global, a heartfelt track from the lyrics to the intricate piano all throughout. It has the same mellowness you can feel and hear. This song tells a story, a message of longing and a declaration of love all the while having a soft yet resounding tune. It showcases Giffy Pluggo’s prominent vocals through the soaring harmonies.
If you’re into tropical and ‘living-my-best-life’ vibes, why not give “Livin Life” a try? It emits a pleasant aura, sharing a feel-good energy with the listeners. This is exactly what you’d hear upon stepping foot on a beach, a party, or more specifically a luau with the sun setting. Essentially, it’s a reminder to slow down, enjoy, and stay grounded in the present.
Last but not the least is “Smoke and Stack” with BSF TONE 066. The brass in this is a game changer, as it switches up the mellowness to a stronger, rhythmic beat. However, like the title track, this one clearly exerts confidence, and the feeling of confiding with comrades and friends. Just like everything else in this record, there’s no trace of negativity or elements that would put you off.
With that, it’s safe to say that everything is smooth sailing and catchy as heck. This EP—to put it bluntly—is definitely an attention getter, a hook in other words, just because it’s clever and charismatic all around. If you wanna be in for a chill, laid back time, give “Luxury Manifesto” a shot.
