Nothing really beats great music on a nice day! More importantly, nothing beats good music to lighten up a gloomy day! That is the kind of vibe “Seasons of Love” by the artist Softly Spoken carries. Released on the 19th of July this year, this meticulously made collection is the first-ever project to be released by this artist. This 9-track acoustic collection is lovely and compelling proof that there is a huge power hidden through simplicity, where with only a guitar and an exceptional voice, one can evoke many emotions and tell great stories.
“Seasons of Love” is a great collection, I kid you not. This project falls under the acoustic genre, where Softly Spoken has successfully delivered a strong message to the listeners: that it actually felt nice to fall in love. The whole album centers on the topic of love—how it happens, the feelings that it carries, the uncertainties that you feel, all the good and bad things about it, and everything in between. I can guarantee you that this album will make you happy—at least I’m sure it did for me.
The track “Hey” opens this whole collection. From here, you will be welcomed by the sweet voice of Softly Spoken. With the track’s easy-to-remember melody and repetitive strums, this sure could make you feel good. “MyPerson” comes next. This track automatically reminded me of the Twisted Sisters, Meredith, and Cristina — the two people who would do anything for each other. This track is also just that. It talks about loving someone to the extent of wanting to do all the mundane things in life with them. This track is like a message that needs to be sent to someone’s significant other.
Trust is one of the strong foundations of love, and the track “Only One” will remind you of that. This track shows how someone would blindly trust their person and everything that they do just because they love them wholeheartedly. Moreover, “Happysad” is a track that showcases the power of having a significant other who will walk through hell with you in life. This is a song where the artist shows how grateful they are to their significant other—how this person saved them and how they’re their own version of solace. This is also a track that carries a promise to be better for themselves and for the person that they love.
Do you know how sometimes love can make us feel crazy? In this collection, “Crazy” is a track that fits just that description. This carries a message about how her own love can sometimes make her feel uncertain about things. This is my absolute favorite track because of the way the artist is singing. It may sound clear and calm because of its acoustic nature, but it definitely carries some grit and angst to it, adding to the drama on this track. Seasons of Love also features the following tracks: “Circles,” “Miss You,” “Piece,” and “Scar.” Each of these tracks carries a story that could be related to love—how sometimes it is fulfilling, cute, selfish, and uncertain, yet most of the time great. Seasons of Love is packed with all these messages through the stories brought about by each track in this collection.
This album will make you feel good about falling in love. This will give you an insight into how it should be—how it’s supposed to be. This collection will give you a glimpse of the reality of it—that not everything is about happiness and perfection—and that it is about a mix of good and bad things that both of you are willing to commit to.
Ultimately, Seasons of Love carries an air of youthfulness that everybody needs to hear. It is endearing and cute, yet it carries the perfect message that falling in love is something that everyone deserves at some point in their lives. This acoustic collection is a breath of fresh air from the constant noise that this world carries. This album did spark some romance in the air, as this release is one of the best love song collections that I have ever heard this year. Softly Spoken did a great job of writing these authentic tracks. Not to mention, with the artist’s great vocal prowess, everything fell into the perfect place for this album. With the infectious emotions and vibe that Seasons of Love carries, this album will certainly be on your top-favorite list if you give it a chance.
