In an industry where the insatiable trendy sounds are favored and pushed to become bigger and louder for people to hear, Lia Veyn‘s newly released EP, World on Fire, lies in its power its simplicity, and a whole lot of different worldviews. I honestly did not expect it to hit me so hard, but this two-track EP has an interesting take, having to tell one story in two different tones—that sure got my full attention, and so, here I am seated and focused on this creation.
World on Fire is an EP released on January 16th, 2025. It is driven, it is different, and it carries a powerful message: chaos, war, and even broken promises that cause a lot of evilness in this world and troubles humanity faces in the current times. While it clearly creates the image of a chaotic world, it also bears a strong meaning that all those difficulties are possible to be fixed through the help of everyone’s collective strength (there’s power in unity after all), and with the assistance brought by innovations of AI, these strong emotions are properly conveyed through each of the tracks.
This EP opens with the track “World on Fire,” and for the lack of better adjectives to describe it, the track came off as edgy and strong. Its production consists of bold basslines that are also highlighted by synths, making the whole production intense and packed with a sense of urgency. This version carries the fierceness that the title holds—angry, potent, intense, and strong. On the other hand, the second track, “World on Chaose – Soft Version,” carries a much calmer and dreamy vibe brought by the delicate piano notes in the piece. This is actually a pleasant surprise, as the song has a totally different vibe from the first track—this one is sad as if you were watching the whole world slowly crumble under your feet, and you’ll feel the hopelessness creep into your judgment.
It’s awesome how these two versions, while perfectly having all-too-different vibes from each other, are just like two sides of the same coin and show how sometimes there is more than just one way to process the chaos around us—one can reflect, and the other could cry out loud for its unfairness. This is such a creative take from Lia Veyn’s end, a simple concept done with a layer of intriguing gimmick; this sure is a well-crafted EP that stood out from the rest.
