There’s something refreshing about a band that couldn’t care less about playing nice. No attempt to ease you in, no effort to be subtle. And it’s just exactly like Nasty Passion’s debut single, Nasty.
Behind this work is a Baltimore-born band that carries the hard-rock swagger straight out of Hollywood’s Sunset Strip in the late ’80s. After years apart, they’re back onstage with the same hunger, picking up right where their amps last went silent.
Think of men in leather jackets kicking the door open as Nasty starts off with slick guitar lines. It’s bold, messy, definitely the kind that will get you nodding your head before you even realize you’ve gotten lost in its unapologetic charm. The guitars add grit and character, while the rhythm drives the track forward. Their songwriting is just as unapologetic. The lines are sleazy and suggestive without getting too lost in it.
One thing about this track is its wholehearted commitment to classic rock. Like who would’ve thought a song about being nasty could sound so good when it’s loud, punchy, full of itself? If this is just a peak for everything that will follow, then it’s safe to say that Nasty Passion’s upcoming self-titled album has plenty of rock-and-roll fun in store.
