Rock is not dead, and the band duo TEENBIRD is back again to prove this very statement. Mark your calendars as this November 16, 2024, this duo composed of Mario Hailer, who’s in charge of all the instruments, and Marcello Vieira, for all the vocals, is back to hit the road and set it on fire with their most anticipated comeback album, ROCKIN’ THE ROAD. This is a bold comeback from the band, which has been successful with their releases earlier this year—it is unapologetic, powerful, and straightforward as the band brings back the glorified days of classic rock and heavy metal onto the center stage.
The album opens with a very satisfying wave of rock and roll from the track “What U Do What U Get.” From its very first note, you will be fulfilled with the clean production, instrumentation, and amazing vocals of this piece that gives you this straightforward rock in roll that will get your head banging immediately. The lines are great too, as punctuated by hard-pounding drums from Hailer’s instruments that added to the effect and drama of Vieira’s singing!
One amazing thing about TEENBIRD is their way of breathing a new life with the covers that they do. Not only do they give a classic song a new face, but their respect for the craft and musicality of the original singers can be felt through their covers as they carefully give their new sound to the track without sacrificing the quality of the original. “Cum On, Feel the Noize” would be one of the great examples of that. In this track, there’s no denying Vieira’s vocal prowess—it is vast, and hearing him hit high notes is just too satisfying. Moreover, Hailer’s skills on instruments are top-notch too! He had managed to create a refreshing yet nostalgic sound quality for the listeners that I bet even this younger generation would enjoy. “Hot Wheels” follows this classic great cover, and it is by far my favorite, along with the latter and most especially the bangers “Highway to Hell,” this collection also includes covers for classic tracks like “I Can’t Drive 55,” “Route 66,” and a unique mashup cover for “Whole Lotta La Grange” that you would definitely enjoy, so be sure to have it a go!
With “Rock Your Soul,” high-energy instrumentation, such as Hailer’s guitar riffs and driving drums, is present from the get-go. Vocal-wise, Vieira does a great job of balancing the highs and lows in this track as he sings his heart out, clearly sending a message of letting loose, not minding everything, and just rocking on! This track is packed with potent energy that is waiting to be extinguished, and of course, what’s the best way to get rid of it? Jump and scream!
Now, here are my top two favorites: “Youthful Spirits” and “Free Ride Life.” These two have not only displayed a high quality of sound but also showcased a top-notch skill set from the duo—the amount of vocal expertise and mastery of instruments displayed on these tracks are solid! I personally believe that these tracks will make the mosh pit go crazy in a live show, and how I wish to become part of such a great show while enjoying this type of great music. This track clearly represents the firepower of this band in terms of the sound quality that they can offer and their crafts as artists—these are pure rock and roll!
Finally, the album closes with “Song of Freedom,” a track that gives a classic rock-in-roll vibe that has a powerful instrumentation that captures the passion and the whole essence of freedom through a song. This track serves as a powerful end for the whole collection, and with its simple yet potent structure, this leaves a lasting impression on the listeners just like TEENBIRD has wanted it to be.
Ultimately, Teenbird has yet again managed to produce a high-quality collection of music that not only showcases its character and musicality as a band but also induces nostalgia through its rock and roll music. Truly, they embody the message that “rock music isn’t dead”—it is thriving, it is alive, and it is just waiting to explode for the world to hear. The band managed to produce a refreshing sound that is straightforward—just pure punk goodness for the listeners to enjoy. This album is a display of skill and passion too; as Hailer displays his prowess as the driving force for the instruments and as Vieira rushes through with his high-quality vocals, what more could you ask for? This is the perfect dose of rock that you need, so look no further and listen to “ROCKIN’ THE ROAD.” Turn your volume all the way up for TEENBIRD, don’t miss out, and follow them for more music updates!
