The Melodic Sound of “Letters – The Hub Session”

Unlike most songs today that usually come with lyrics to wrap everything up and convey what the artist wants to say, which in turn provide easier understanding of the craft, instrumentals are much more intriguing and complex. “Letters – The Hub Session” is a four-track EP that solely focuses on its sound and melodies, offering listeners a chance of reflection, and a mental deep dive into contemplating what these songs sound or remind them of.

The session already includes its own overview from Raighes Factory, describing each track from the words of Fabio Mazzini himself. In other words, there’s really not much to contribute – apart from personal sentiments and a quick discussion on how Fabio Mazzini and Giovanni Tamburini are definitely masters of the craft. The way each element in every song is carefully integrated and put together, the contrast of softness and loudness in some parts are bound to render listeners quite speechless and in awe.

There’s something great and special with how each song has its own influence, making the EP unique in its own way. It may as well attract different kinds of people with a variety of inspiration, from Eastern Europe to Ernest Hemingway.

As a part of Generation Z, although having the capacity to appreciate intricate artwork and the deeper meaning of it all, perhaps most younger listeners’ curiosities may be piqued if this was to be compared to terms and instances they are familiar with. Personally, this EP greatly reminds me of video game music. I could only hope this wouldn’t be taken the wrong way, but it just means to say it’s nostalgic, familiar. Sure, it doesn’t run as deep as when tackling human emotions, but it’s still comparable and has its similarities, and it matters to retain relevance.
