The Songs from the Living Room opens with the track “Move Your Body Slowly.” From the get-go, I can’t help but go along with this upbeat track that brings in a club-like vibe throughout the track. It is a song that evokes the desire for intimacy and physical connection—an inviting track that somehow reminds me of the track “Say So” by Doja Cat, maybe because both tracks are absolute bops and catchy which makes it similarly great. The fun continues with the track “Let the Music Fill You.” It is a piece that would absolutely make you groove with the tropical and upbeat vibe that it gives off, highlighting the freedom and fun that music can bring.
With “It’s Too Late To Love You“, Miist shifts her mood with this slow ballad track that features the vocal prowess of the duo Miist and Narada Michael. It is a magical duet that could pass as an OST for an awesome Disney Movie. Another slow track for this album is “I Want To Write This Song,” a jazzy offering from the artist that is packed with emotions and affection for a person from the past, properly conveying the nostalgia and desire for a reconnection. This song will make you want to reflect on your past, an expression on your past, an expression of love and longing—a great track for your late-night solo chill in a classy restaurant.
“One More Time” brings back the fun with its party music vibe. It is a deep song that is artistically hidden through upbeat drives, conveying a message of longing for some second chances and willingness to make amends and changes after feeling regret for a decision that was badly made. “Remember Me Again,” on the other hand, is a track that again highlights the vocal prowess of Miist as highlighted by synths and the clean structure of the song. The clear and vibrant voice of the artist reverberated throughout the track, singing words of yearning and desire to be held close and remembered in the hearts of their loved ones.
Earlier, I mentioned how Miist reminds me of the legendary artist, Boa, and the main reason for it is the track “I’m Not Afraid to Dream Again.” This is a vocal and skills showcase for Miist; she has amazingly worked her way through beats and piano melodies, which highlighted the crispiness and vibrance of her voice the same way Boa did in her early years as a solo female artist.
